The current COVID-19 pandemic is affecting lives and business activities in unprecedented ways around the world. Like most countries, the Malaysian government is closely monitoring this fluid and developing crisis, responding with stringent measures to combat and contain the spread of the virus. One of the measures undertaken was to require private businesses to cease operations (except for essential services such as water, electricity, energy, telecommunications, postal, transportation, irrigation, oil, gas fuel, lubricants, broadcasting, finance, banking, health, pharmacy, fire prevention, food supply and retail) under a Movement Control Order (MCO), pursuant to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967. The MCO will take effect from 18 March to 14 April 2020 for the whole of Malaysia.
